We understand that getting the balance right is critical when providing food within the education environment. This balance is providing familiar, exciting and appetising food whilst at the same time taking a responsible approach to healthy eating. Be this within primary, secondary or university markets we have principles that we apply which we believe in deeply.
Our driving principle is that food within education should not be purely driven by cost cutting. We feel our approach is unique within the education market. We work to drive sales via higher pupil patronage, this way the school gets more revenue, a great reputation for food and the dining room becomes the social hub of the school.
Our philosophy is great food, using the best possible ingredients from local suppliers where ever possible.
We also believe that food at schools should be fun. This is why we have created highly identifiable brands within our school business. We look at the students, regardless of age, as young consumers and we treat them with the same respect that we treat our customers within our commercial business.
All our menus are compliant and we are well resourced to ensure that we remain well placed to adapt our business in line with forthcoming legislative changes. To support this we work in close partnership with council monitoring officers and registered dieticians with menus analysed and approved using the NUTMEG menu planner. In addition all Head Cooks receive nutritional training which is assessed through a formal examination process.
